Blue Mountain Lodge is in the heart of the best bird hunting and fishing the Alaska Peninsula has to offer.
Following jet service to King Salmon you will take a charter flight 55 miles south over the Naknek, King Salmon and Egegik Rivers. Also, you will be flying near the second largest lake in Alaska, Becharof Lake, which is just 15 miles from our facility.
Our newly constructed main lodge, is where you will eat, relax and reflect on the days events. The lodge offers a beautiful view of our lake, Blue Mountain and the Aleutian Mountains. The guest cabin, a duplex built in 2006, has two private bedrooms and two front rooms that have bunk beds and a small common area. Both sides include a private bathroom with shower and flushing toilet. There is also a freezer for any fish or game you wish to take home. You’re welcome to bring your video camera since we have a flat screen TV at the lodge for watching the day's activities. We will fly out and guide you, knowing where the best locations are for hunting and fishing on the Alaska Peninsula . After a great day in the field or on the water you will fly back to Blue Mountain Lodge for a delicious family style dinner. We have a great variety of hunting and fishing locations, beautiful scenery and the ability to customize your day to day activities.
With the excellent hunting and fishing we will have ample opportunity to sight many bear, caribou and moose. A short flight to Katmai National Monument and Brooks Lodge to view the Brown Bears can be added to your agenda upon request. It may rain, a good rain suit is recommended to keep you warm and dry. The wind can get rather strong at times however, we rarely lose a day of hunting or fishing due to the weather. We have four airplanes; two Piper Super Cubs, one on wheels and one on floats, a Cessna 180 on floats, and a Cessna 182 on wheels. Since we cater to 6 sportsmen only per trip, and due to the location of our lodge, many of the areas we fish are only visited by Blue Mountain Lodge guests.
Blue Mountain Lodge is located on an abandoned oil exploration road system. This road system is not connected to any village or highway. Pickup trucks have been flown in by large cargo airplanes. This set up creates a great opportunity to hunt Willow Ptarmigan, a close relative of Forest and Prairie Grouse. With a lodge limit of 20 per day per hunter, this makes for a great hunt.
Ducks and geese and the occasional Pacific Black Brandt are plentiful since you are at the top of the Pacific flyway. The birds receive very little hunting pressure which is provided exclusively in this region by Blue Mountain Lodge. We either hunt the tundra or freshwater sloughs and ponds via road systems or flyouts and the hunting is unparalleled.
Thank you for your interest in our lodge. If we can answer any questions for you please let us know. We will be looking forward to hearing from you and hope we will have the opportunity to show you our unforgettable Alaskan experience.
